Summary:

The role of a Project Manager is to manage the planning and delivery of construction projects. A Project Manager ensures that work is completed on time and within budget. They organise logistics, delegate work, provide contract advice and manage project teams. An integral part of Project Management is communication and stakeholder engagement; it is the responsibility of the Project Manager to keep the client informed of project progress and to effectively manage any risks, and delays.

Role Overview:
As an Intern, you will be enrolled into the G&T Industry Insights Programme which will provide you with an understanding of the role of a Project Manager, the firm and the industry.

Working within a team, you will be assisting with various aspects of daily project work as requested by your supervisor, working with a certain level of independence to complete tasks, while also knowing when to discuss and ask questions to ensure the best outcome.

Lasting between one and three months in duration, the Intern role will be varied, and the actual experience gained will be dependent on the team and sector you are working in. Those interns who excel throughout the placement will be offered the opportunity of sponsorship for their ongoing studies and an opportunity to return to the firm for further experience/a role o successful completion of their current studies.

General Responsibilities

In conjunction with your line manager the internship will typically include experience of the following

Assisting the team in compiling contract documents
Attending site meetings – depending on stage of project either design team meetings progress meetings with the contractor and project team
Supporting the team in preparing a project schedule
Providing administrative support to Project Managers in the team to help them perform tasks quickly and accurately
Understanding and insight into the client’s needs
Taking minutes during project meetings
Assisting in data collection, development and analysis to enable decision-making and goal setting
Working directly with project managers to help implement project goals

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Good A-Level grades or equivalent
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work to deadlines
Ability to work as part of a team
Excellent working knowledge of current IT systems
Understand the importance of client care & relationships
Trustworthy and reliable
Ability to prioritise work efficiently
