What You Will Do

We are currently looking for an Executive Cost Consultant to join our MEP team to help support with the growth of the business and the continued delivery of world class service to our diverse client base.

The candidate will be working within our dedicated and dynamic MEP cost management team and reporting directly into the senior leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high profile projects across a variety of sectors, including residential, commercial, data centre, health, plant replacement projects.

The ideal candidate will be one who aims to grow into a leadership position. They will need to thrive on challenges and be client facing, being both eager to learn and develop whilst also assisting to drive forward our position as an industry lead team. Your attention to detail, analytical skills and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders will be paramount to your success in the role.

Role Accountabilities:

As an Executive Cost Consultant your day to day will focus on managing MEP + VT costs on multiple projects, including but not limited to, cost planning from stage 2 onwards, managing project through RIBA stage and post contract. The key responsibilities of the role will include:

Cost Estimation:

Conduct accurate and detailed MEP + VT cost estimates for construction projects, considering all relevant factors such as materials, labour, equipment, and overhead costs.
Analyse and evaluate the potential financial impact of design changes, recommending cost-effective solutions.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that costs are controlled and remain within established financial parameters.
Monitor and report on budget variances, providing timely and accurate financial information to project teams and management.

Contract Administration:

Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Administer contracts throughout the project lifecycle, managing variations and claims.

Risk Management:

Identify and assess potential risks associated with construction projects, developing strategies to mitigate and manage these risks.
Provide proactive advice to project teams on risk-related issues to avoid disputes and delays.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Regularly update project teams on financial status, highlighting any issues that may impact costs or timelines.

Cost Reporting:

Prepare and input into detailed cost reports, forecasts, and financial analysis for management and project teams.
Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to the project.

About You

Degree qualified – preferably within a construction related discipline
MRICS preferred, but not essential. We can support the training required to gain MRICS
Ideally pre contract experience, along with post contract experience
Cross sector experience within the commercial, office, residential, education and data centre sectors preferred
Previous experience within a consultancy environment strongly desirable
Able to work alongside others and show initiative
Can work independently, with support from wider MEP team
Positive attitude with a willingness to get involved
Keen to learn and develop within the business
Good level of social and communication skills
